With all the weight a woman usually accumulates for the duration of her pregnancy, it is but natural for them to want to get back into shape. While many turn to dieting and a strict exercise regimen, an increasing number of new mothers are now resorting to having some cosmetic work done. Plastic surgeon Dr. David Lickstein, featured in a KeyeTV article, enumerates some of the procedures common among new mothers:

“The most common combination of procedures often involves a breast lift or placement of implants, and an abdominoplasty or tummy tuck," Lickstein said. There are many changes that take place during pregnancy--the nose and face can broaden, breast tissue expands for nursing, then rapidly shrinks. But it's the belly bares most of the burden.

“The most common is loose skin on the abdomen that just hasn't retracted following pregnancy or even losing weight--the skin still hangs," Lickstein said.

The loose skin makes it perfectly understandable why some new mothers would rather have a tummy tuck than months or years of fitness training. After all, loose skin is probably one of the most difficult things to get rid off naturally, and an abdominoplasty is perhaps one of the few options for new mothers that can yield the most satisfactory results.
