Facelift Tape and Creams
There’s no denying it. As we get older, we look older. Gravity pulls at us. Our tissues lose their elasticity. The facial skin and muscles loosen. We become more vulnerable to wrinkles and furrows. None of that is good for our self-confidence, and, in fact, often makes people self-conscious in their interactions with friends, family, and co-workers.
Many people opt for a facelift, but that terminology no longer refers to the traditional surgical procedure only. And many people don’t want to deal with scalpels, incisions, anesthetics, and a long recovery, which is both expensive and time-consuming. Newer, non-surgical facelifts give consumers a range of choices, some of which are billed as “instant.”
This notion of “instant” results are usually achieved with some kind of physical attachment or cream formulations. Recently, informercials about different types of non-invasive facelifts have gained in popularity. Approach these products with a healthy dose of skepticism.
What are Facelift Tape Products?
Tape products supposedly give you a facelift instantly and painlessly. But the truth is a bit different. Adhesive pads must be placed along the hairline, and these pads are hooked with elastic to an anchor hidden at the back of the head.
The idea is to manually pull back the skin and to somehow hide the entire apparatus with your hair, which is obviously problematic. That's why facelift tapes are more of a gimmick than a feasible facelift product.
Facelift Topical Creams
Topical creams that are exfoliants are another category of instant facelift products. They claim to remove dead skin layers and to help moisturize deep layers of skin. Some of these creams dry as a mask and achieve skin tightening as a result.
Regardless, however, the benefits these products claim to offer are not permanent and require both time and effort to maintain. All the time getting a treatment with some lasting value could easily save any money you'd put into continual treatments.
What are my Options?
Your best bet is to discuss more permanent treatment options with a board certified plastic surgeon. He or she will explain what you can expect from each of the recognized facelift procedures. For the most part, however, instant facelift products are not all that useful, nor permanent.
