Allergan
What is Allergan?
Allergan is a pharmaceutical company specializing in opthalmic, dermatology and neurological medications and products.
Started in 1978, Allergan has provided pharmaceutical products to doctors and patients with successful outcomes and improved quality of life for the many recipients of appropriate treatment.
What products does Allergan make?
Allergan has made many well-known products, but the most familiar ones currently may be Botox cosmetic, a prescription medicine injected into muscles to freeze or paralyze them to reduce wrinkles, and Juvederm, a popular facial filler line.
What are the benefits of facial fillers/Botox?
These products are quick and effective in smoothing frown lines, crow's feet and lines at the base of the nose. Fillers are also, by far, more affordable than plastic surgery.
The end result is the patient looks younger immediately, which is often the goal. Botox for example can erase lines produced by aging, stress and environmental factors in a very short time period, and a shot takes about ten minutes as opposed to time-consuming surgery.
What are the risks and recovery time for filler injections?
Recovery is, for the most part, very quick and the patient can resume normal activities almost immediately. Side effects may cause temporary eyelid droop and nausea.
These products cannot be used by pregnant women, those taking certain medications or antibiotics and people
with certain neurological disorders. Nursing mothers also should not use fillers.
Am I a good candidate for facial fillers?
Patients aged 18-65 with early aging signs and who do not need extensive facial surgery are good candidates.
Those considering fillers should be cleared by their doctors before receiving treatment.
What does the average facial filler/Botox injection cost?
Facial fillers have an average cost of approximately $300-$500. A full Juvederm treatment is estimated to have an average cost of $690 and last up to two years.
Botox runs about $400 per treatment and patients usually have four treatments over four months.
Costs will vary depending on your area and surgeon, but treatment should always be performed by licensed doctors, and preferably plastic surgeons.
Alternatives to traditional surgery save the patient from having general or even local anesthetic and the side effects of them. Overall, facial fillers are less expensive, quick and have almost no recovery time.
