US Plastic Cosmetic Surgery Trends
The American Society of Plastic Surgeons has divided the United States into regions for statistical purposes. Oregon is in Region Five, along with other western states like Utah, Wyoming, Alaska, California and Hawaii.
According to statistics, the most common cosmetic surgical procedure in 2010 was breast augmentation, with 111,329 patients undergoing the surgery. This was followed by eyelid surgery with 74,457 surgeries, then liposuction, with 68,591 surgeries, then rhinoplasty, with 67,148 surgeries.
All in all, Region Five was responsible for 31 percent of all cosmetic surgical procedures in Region Five in 2010. The total added up to 488,176 surgeries.
As for the cosmetically minimally-invasive procedures, Botox injection therapy was the most popular treatment in Region Five. According to statistics, there were 1,490,760 Botox injections given.
This was followed by soft tissue fillers, including collagen replacement and fillers created from porcine/bovine tissue, fat or polylactic acid. All in all there were 471,586 soft tissue filler procedures.
The next minimally-invasive cosmetic procedure was chemical peel. There were 360,064 chemical peels performed in 2010. The total cosmetic minimally-invasive procedures in Region Five numbered 3,227,202.
